Engineering Personnel
Jim Cranmer, PE, is the firm’s principal engineer and founder of Cranmer. He has a BS in Civil Engineering. Prior to founding Cranmer Engineering, Inc, he was employed by the California Division of Highways in the divisions Civil Engineering Training Program, and the Nevada Irrigation District as a chief engineer. Mr. Cranmer is eligible to practice surveying in California as per 8729 of the Professional Land Surveyors’ Act, Business and Professions Code 8700-8805, and also holds PE registrations in Nevada, Idaho, and Montana. Many of the public and private development projects completed in Nevada County were worked on by Cranmer Engineering, Inc.
Steven Sarantopoulos, PE, is the firm’s chief engineer. Mr. Sarantopoulos has a BS in Civil Engineering, has been a design engineer since 1986, performing construction surveying, computer aided design and engineering and has supervised project teams for over 10 years. Mr. Sarantopoulos has also owned his own consulting firm and worked as the resident engineer for several public works projects.
Thomas Michael Ingram has been the principal GIS System Specialist at Cranmer Engineering, Inc since 1998. Mr. Ingram has a BS in Agronomy and a BS in Landscape Architecture. Previously he was Principal Landscape Architect at Design 5 Architects in Brownsville Texas, an undergrad professor at Texas Southmost College, Principal M.S. System Administrator at Turrini & Brink in Santa Ana, California, and Principal Land Planner at King Engineering in Grass Valley, California. Mr. Ingram also holds a Landscape Architecture License from Texas.
Paul Dessau,is a design Engineer at Cranmer Engineering, Inc. Mr. Dessau has a BS in Mechanical Engineering. His previous experience includes assisting in wastewater lab analysis and lab fieldwork for Placer County in California, technical writing, and construction.
Madelyn Giles has 3 years experience in the civil engineering field and has been with Cranmer Engineering, Inc since 2006. Ms. Giles is progressively increasing her responsibilities in various areas including but not limited to, surveying (field & office), wastewater reporting, CAD design work and dam safety.
Surveying Personnel
James J. Delaney, PLS., is the firm’s Chief Land Surveyor. Mr. Delaney has an AS in Civil Engineering Technology, as well as extensive education in Boundary Analysis, Plane Surveying, Basic G.I.S. and G.P.S. Surveying Trimble at the university level. Mr. Delaney’s past experience includes work with the U. S. Forest Service, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, City of Long Beach, and Spencer Land Surveying in Grass Valley, California.
Administrative Personnel
Charles Zavitz is the principle owner and president of Cranmer Engineering, Inc. He holds a MBA and is a Certified Public Accountant with license # 8401E. Mr. Zavitz has owned numerous accounting firms, real estate agencies, and a printing firm since 1972.
Michelle Harlin, who is the firm’s office manager, has an AA degree in Business Administration. Since 1993, Ms. Harlin has managed offices for Budweiser, Express Mart, and has owned a business.
Tom Martin has a BS in Computer Science, and is the firm’s computer Software Engineer and Computer Administrator. Mr. Martin has extensive experience in software development.
