Standard Bacteria Analysis

Presence/Absence
Standard test of drinking water for loans, well certifications, general information, etc.
Results reported as presence or absence of total coliform bacteria and E. Coli

MPN
Gives the most probable number(MPN) of coliform bacteria and E. Coli up to 200 bacteria per 100 milliliters. Recommended for springs and in any situation where a bacteria count would be useful

Results are available the second morning after samples are submitted. Reports are mailed later that day.
An expedited test is available for a $10 surcharge. Results are available the following afternoon.
Samples received after noon on Fridays will be run by the classics 2-4 day method at the regular price. Results may not be ready until Tuesday. For guaranteed Monday results ask for the expedited test.

Specialty Bacteria Analysis

Swim Water MPN
For accessing the suitability of a body of water for recreational uses. Total coliform and E. Coli up to 2000 bacteria per 100 milliliters. (Add $10 for expedited 18-hr test.)

Suspected Sewage
For assessing whether a water source is contaminated with sewage. Fecal coliform analysis, up to 160,000 bacteria per 100 milliliters. Analysis takes 2-3 days.

Use sterilized containers and instructions provided by the lab. Drinking water analysis must be started within 30 hours of sampling, surface water within 8 hours, waster water within 6 hours.

INORGANIC CHEMICAL GROUP ANALYSIS

Analysis: Basic Panel
Description: Checks for the five most commonly encountered water problems in the Sierra Foothills. Recommended for planning of treatment
Includes: plants pH(acidity), specific conductivity(salinity), hardness(calcium, magnesium), iron, manganese

Analysis: Real Estate Panel
Description: As more well owners test for arsenic, we find that it is more common then once believed. For agricultural areas (The Valley) we recommend adding nitrate (extra $13).

Analysis: Saturation Index
Description: Gives an assessment for your water's tendency to form lime scale or if it will tend to be corrosive to plumbing.
Includes: pH, specific conductivity, hardness, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium

Analysis: Corrosive Water Panel
Description: Often indicated by blue-green stains (copper) on fixtures, corrosive water is one of the common problems in the foothills.
Includes: Saturation Index + copper and lead.

Analysis: The Kitchen Sink
Description: All of the above analysis combined into one. Sodium is added because it is of concern to persons with heart disease.
